Zakynthos - Zante

Zakynthos, più comunemente conosciuta come Zante è un'isola greca nel mar Ionio. 

L'isola, al contrario di quanto si può pensare, è decisamente grande e muoversi da una estremità all'altra può comportare un viaggio anche di un'ora abbondante.

Come arrivare:

L'isola è servita da un aeroporto. Le compagnie che collegano l'isola da tutta Europa sono molte, dall'Italia in particolare ci sono Bluexpress da Bergamo o Bologna, Easyjet da Milano Malpensa, Vueling da Fiumicino o Volotea da Venezia. Se non si hanno particolari esigenze con orari e date si trovano anche in alta stagione voli andata e ritorno a meno di 250 euro tutto incluso.

Io ho volato con Volotea da Venezia. Compagnia low cost davvero ottima sia per i servizi che per la puntualità dei suoi voli

Spostamento Albergo - Hotel:

L'isola è davvero molto grande e soprattutto le cose da fare/vedere sono un pò dappertutto. La macchina è indispensabile. Conviene quindi prenderla direttamente all'aeroporto. Sono molte le agenzie presenti. Hertz è sicuramente una delle più concorrenziali. I prezzi per un'utilitaria partono da 70 euro al giorno, 300 euro circa per una settimana.

Albergo:

L'isola ospita davvero decine di strutture. Sicuramente non vi è una posizione privilegiata rispetto alle altre. Salvo non vogliate fare vita da Hotel e quindi restare tutto il giorno nella stessa struttura, muoversi sarà un must. Sono sicuramente comodi tutti gli hotel nei dintorni della zona sud e della città di Zante. Vicino ad essa ci sono le spiagge sabbiose più belle da visitare. La zona Nord dove ci sono alcune cose da fare assolutamente e che poi descrivo, è raggiungibile in circa 45 minuti di auto. La città in se non è il miglior luogo in cui stare, troppo turistico e con strutture un pò troppo datate.

L'albergo in cui ho soggiornato io e che consiglio è il seguente:

Kymothoe Elite: funziona come un apartment hotel, offre dei servizi di altissima qualità a prezzi corretti. La piscina da sul mare e si gode di un panorama davvero spettacolare. Il personale è ultra gentile fornendo indicazioni e suggerimenti di ogni tipo. La colazione, inclusa, è ottima e fornita, gli appartamenti sono dotati di terrazzo e cucina moderna il che rende facile anche cucinare direttamente a casa.

Cosa fare / vedere:

• Tour in Barca per l'Isola del Relitto

L'isola del Relitto è sicuramente una delle attrazioni principali dell'isola, anzi, secondo alcune fonti, si tratta della spiaggia più fotografata dell'intero mediterraneo. La spiaggia, di sabbia bianca non finissima, è racchiusa da due altissime scogliere e si raggiunge solo via mare. Tour in barca partono da tutta l'isola con tempi di percorrenza che superano anche l'ora di navigazione.

Il mio consiglio è quello di utilizzare il Potamis Trips che parte nella punta nord dell'isola (presso lo Skinari Light House). Al prezzo di 15 euro è compresa la navigazione fino alla spiaggia del relitto con sosta di un'ora, oltre ad un tour delle famose grotte blu (grazie ad una serie di coralli blu l'acqua assume un fortissimo colore blu)

Ovviamente, una volta finito il tour, bisogna raggiungere la vetta della scogliere. Non serve che io dica altro, la vista è la seguente!

• Noleggio Barca per visitare tutta la parte a sud ovest dell'isola

La baia a sud ovest dell'isola offre molti angoli da visitare assolutamente. Nessuno di essi è raggiungibile via terra. E' necessario quindi noleggiare una barca e raggiungerli in questo modo. I prezzi sono modici rispetto ad altre località, con 100 euro si noleggia un'imbarcazione 40CV per l'intero pomeriggio. L'agenzia da noi utilizzata è la Big Blue direttamente a Keri Beach. Oltre a visitare molte spiagge e grotte, L'isola di fronte al porto offre una spiaggia bianca su cui attraccare per vedere le uova di tartaruga. Nella baia invece, il personale vi spiegherà dove poter vedere direttamente le grosse tartarughe marine. Assolutamente da fare!

Aperitivi

Molte delle spiagge offrono anche il servizio Bar dove è possibile fare degli ottimi aperitivi. Le due spiaggie rocciose ad ovest dell'isola, per esempio, sono famose anche per questo: Taverne Ionion è una spiaggia davvero bella, con sdraio e lettini molto particolari. Purtroppo le rocce non facilitano l'accesso al mare. Gli aperitivi sono serviti direttamente ai lettini. La cena offre cibo tipico a prezzi molto bassi (15-20 euro a persona massimo). I lettini sono gratuiti, servizio bar obbligatorio.

Idem per Porto Limnionas, una fantastica baia con terrazze attrezzate e bar a disposizione. Consigliato anche per il pranzo. Vi è un pontile da cui tuffarsi e nuotare in tutta la bellissima baia.

Rientrati dalla gita in barca è consigliabile un aperitivo anche presso il Mythos Cafe, da cui si gode di un ottima vista su tutta la spiaggia oltre ad offrire un fantastico mojito. Non ho provato di persona ma qui anche le cene sembrano molte buone. 8 euro a cocktail.

Visita dell'isola ΚΟΡΑΚΟΝΗΣΙ ad ovest dell'isola. Ci si arriva in auto dopo una breve strada sterrata. Fatti meno di 200 metri a piedi si vede uno spettacolo pazzesco. Quest'isola (che isola non è perchè è collegata alla terra ferma) crea una baia con un mare cristallino e stupendo. Tuffarsi è un obbligo. Portare delle scarpette è intelligente per poter risalire poi.

Spiagge:

Oltre alle prime due già citate, spiagge rocciose, esiste tutta la parte a sud dell'isola che gode di spiaggie sabbiose molto belle e impianti davvero piacevoli. Una delle più belle è sicuramente il Banana Beach, spiaggia ben attrezzata con ottimo ristorante, sottofondo musicale per tutto il giorno e servizio bar ai lettini. Lettino a partire da 3 euro al giorno a persona. Spiaggia molto frequentata da giovani e da italiani. La spiaggia è anche il punto di partenza per chi desidera provare sport acquatici di tutti i tipi. 

Fra le spiaggie sabbiose consigliato anche Porto Azzurro, uno stabilimento balneare ben attrezzato, mare pulito e cristallino, bar con servizio alle sdraio ottimo. 3 euro al giorno a persona l'ombrellone, attenzione, l'acqua costa 3 euro!

Ristoranti:

mangiare a Zante costa davvero poco pur mangiando cibi tipici in quantità decisamente abbondanti. Normalmente non si spende più di 15-20 euro a persona vino incluso (non di altissima qualità). solo nella città di Zante, ben più turistica del resto dell'isola) sembra il viale commerciale di Gardaland, ci sono alcuni ristoranti che costano molto di più. Noi ne abbiamo provato uno molto consigliato su tripadvisor, il Komis Fish Tavern che vi sconsiglio vivamente. Prezzi alti, servizio scadente, lunghissime attese, prezzi elevatissimi rispetto ai concorrenti. Al contrario ve ne consiglio uno a dieci minuti dalla città di Zante in auto dove troverete una tipica taverna rulare greca, una gestione familiare, piatti tipici molto buoni e prezzi bassissimi. Si tratta della Taverna Akrotiri. Arriveranno direttamente i gestori con un enorme vassoio di antipasti tipici da cui potrete scegliere quelli di vostro gradimento. Le specialità poi sono le carni alla griglia o il pesce alla griglia se ordinato il giorno dopo. Il dolce fatto in casa e che vi offriranno a fine cena è una delizia. Prezzi non oltre i 20 euro a persona. Non serve prenotare.

Post Serata

Per il post serata nei dintorni della città ci sono due posti davvero carini:

Portofino: un locale direttamente sul mare con tavolini illuminati dalla luce delle candele dove si bevono ottimi drink. 8-10 euro a cocktail

Movida: è praticamente l'unico vero e proprio locale dell'isola. Oltre alla cena, offre un ottimo servizio drink dopo cena. Dopo la mezzanotte parte la musica con deejay e il locale di riempie di giovani. Prezzi 10 euro a cocktail.

Persone:

i greci sono persone decisamente modeste ma assolutamente aperte e disponibili, fin troppo. Chiedere un consiglio ad un greco vuol dire ascoltare per almeno 15 minuti la sua spiegazione relativamente alla domanda posta. Parlano quasi tutti un ottimo inglese o comunque capiscono tranquillamente.

Moneta:

nonostante le tante voci relative alle difficoltà di prelievo dalla banche, nessun problema è stato riscontrato. Nei locali accettano tranquillamente anche le carte di credito.

The staff is very friendly providing guidance and suggestions of any kind. Breakfast, included, was delicious and provided, the apartments have a terrace and modern kitchen making it easy for even cooking at home.

What to do / see:

• Boat tours to the Island Wreck

Ship Wreck Island is definitely one of the main attractions of the island, in fact, according to some sources, it is the most photographed beach in the entire Mediterranean. The beach, the white sand is not fine, is surrounded by two very high cliffs and can be reached only by sea. Boat tours depart from the island with journey times that exceed even the time of sailing.

My advice is to use the Potamis Trips that starts in the northern tip of the island (Skinari at the Light House). Priced at € 15 including shipping to the beach of the wreck with a stop of one hour, in addition to a tour of the famous Blue Caves (thanks to a series of coral blue water takes a very strong blue color)

• Rent a boat for exploring the southwest part of the island

The bay southwest of the island offers several spots worth visiting. None of them can be reached by land. And 'therefore necessary to rent a boat and reach them in this way. Aperitifs

Many of the beaches also offer bar service where you can make excellent aperitifs. The two rocky beaches to the west of the island, for example, are famous for that too: Taverne Ionion is a really nice beach, with sun beds very special. Unfortunately, the rocks do not facilitate access to the sea. Aperitifs are served directly to the sun loungers. Dinner offers typical food at very low prices (15-20 Euros per person maximum). Cots are free, compulsory service bar.

The same for Porto Limnionas, a beautiful bay with terraces and bars available. Also recommended for lunch. There is a dock from which you can dive and swim in the beautiful bay.

Returning from the boat trip is also advisable to drink at the Mythos Cafe, which offers an excellent view over the beach as well as offering a fantastic mojito. I have not tried it for yourself but here also seem a lot of good dinners. € 8 cocktails.

Visit ΚΟΡΑΚΟΝΗΣΙ island in the west of the island. You get there by car after a short dirt road. Made less than 200 meters walk you see a crazy show. Beaches:

Restaurants

Zante costs very little to eat while eating typical foods in quantities definitely plentiful. Normally you do not spend more than 15-20 Euros per person including wine (not very high quality). only in the city of Zakynthos, much more tourist of the rest of the island) seems the shopping street of Gardaland, there are some restaurants that cost much more. We tried one we highly recommended on tripadvisor, the Komis Fish Tavern which donot. High prices, poor service, long waits, high prices than competitors. Instead there recommend one to ten minutes from the town of Zakynthos by car where you will find a typical Greek taverna rulare, a family, typical very good and very low prices. After Dinner

For the post evening around the city there are two really nice places:

Portofino: a room directly on the beach with tables lit by candles where you drink drinks. 8.10 EUR to cocktails

Movida is about the only true local island. In addition to dinner, it is offering great service after-dinner drink. After midnight the music with deejay and fills the local youth. Price 10 euro cocktails.

People:

Greeks are very modest people but absolutely open and available, too. Ask for advice at a greek means listening for 15 minutes his explanation regarding the question. They speak excellent English or almost all still understand easily.

Currency:

despite the many rumors related to the difficulties of withdrawal from banks, no problem was found. Premises also quietly accept credit cards.
